Asphalt Shingle Roof Replacement in Kent, WA (98032)
This project was a full asphalt shingle roof replacement for a single-family, two-story home in Kent (98032). The homeowner’s roof was nearing the end of its lifespan, and the existing roofing material was an older 3-tab shingle system.
For the replacement, we installed CertainTeed Landmark shingles in Moire Black, delivering a clean, durable finished result built for long-term performance.

The existing roof was nearing end-of-life, and the home was still running an older 3-tab shingle roof, which is not as durable or long-lasting as modern architectural shingles.
Our Inspection findings
Once we began assessing the roof condition more closely, we found significant woodwork issues that needed to be addressed as part of the replacement.
Key findings included:
- Delaminated plywood, requiring CDX sheathing replacement across the home
- Bad wood around the eaves, which also needed to be replaced
What we did
This was a full tear-off and rebuild approach to ensure the new roof system was installed correctly from the deck up.
Roof replacement scope included:
- Full tear-off
- Replaced underlayment using 30 lb. felt
- Replaced existing skylight with a new Velux skylight
- Replaced chimney step flashing and flashing around the skylight
- Added ridge vent
- Replaced bathroom + kitchen vents with new metal vents
- Installed CertainTeed Landmark shingles (Moire Black)
- Installed new black rake edge metal and starter metal
- Replaced pipe flashing with new lead flashing
- Replaced roof sheathing
- Final cleanup including a full magnet sweep

The roof needed more repairs than we thought so I expected the bill to be a thousand dollars more than the quote. It was only 200 more and I was thrilled. The clean-up was perfect. I didn’t find anything left behind. They even swept the lawn with magnets to get every last nail. I have already recommended them to two friends. I hope I never have to get a new roof but if I do they are the only company I will call.
