Founded in 1991 by brothers Kurt and Scott MacMillan, A Better Roofing Company began on California Avenue SW—just half a block from where they were born and raised on SW Findlay Street. What started as a local venture quickly grew beyond its humble beginnings.
Growth, Legacy, and a Return Home
As the business expanded, so did the need for space. To support their growth and provide better pricing for customers through bulk purchasing, the brothers purchased a property with both office space and a warehouse. Conveniently located just a mile from their original office, the new location on Airport Way S (just south of Spokane Street) unknowingly held a deeper connection.
Shortly after moving in, their grandmother visited the site and revealed that their great-grandparents once owned the adjacent property, just across the railroad tracks. A photo even exists of their grandmother as a child in front of the farmhouse. [Click here to see it.]
This discovery made the new location feel like more than just a strategic move—it felt like coming home. Rooted in family history once again, Kurt and Scott decided this would be the company’s permanent home.

Alex MacMillan – General Manager
Alex has been with the company since he was 16. His deep knowledge of roofing products, crew leadership, and installation practices ensures every job is completed with precision and care. Calm, professional, and responsive, Alex is the go-to person if any issues arise—always working to ensure every customer is fully satisfied.
Christian MacMillan – Office Manager
Christian joined the company three years ago and oversees all administrative operations. With a background in customer service and office management, he ensures the business runs smoothly, from client communications to payroll and taxes. His adaptability and commitment to learning every facet of the company reflect his dedication to the team and the customers they serve.

Our experienced supervisors that run our projects with the crew. And finally, our General Manager (who has over 15 years experience) that oversees all our projects giving them that ‘second look’.

Our specialty is residential re-roofing with composition. This is what we do.
